Puerto Plata is a region in northern Dominican Republic and one of the major tourist spots of the country. Known as the Costa del Ambar (Amber Coast), it is one of the most complete destinations in the Dominican Republic with golden and white sandy beaches, Victorian houses, a historical area, Isabel de Torres mountain and its cable car, a wide range of tourist activities and an attractive offer of hotels and leisure activities.

The main attractions of the picturesque and romantic city of Puerto Plata are the Malecon (a 6 km long promenade), San Felipe Fort (one of the oldest and best preserved forts in the Americas), the Corocovado located on the Peak of Isabel Torres mountain (with its stunning panoramic views of the bay), San Felipe Apostol Cathedral and the Parque de la Independencia. Special mention goes to the Brugal rum factory, located in the city and one of the oldest in the country.

On the coast you'll also find other places like the charming fishing village of Sosua, the Mecca of kitesurfing and windsurfing at Cabarete for lovers of these sports, Playa Dorada and Playa Cofresi, the diving paradise of Playa de Sosua and the Ocean World water park, which delights adults and children alike with its wide range of attractions and activities that let visitors interact with all types of marine animals.
